The Scarsdale Police Department received to reports of ID theft over the weekend.

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – A pair of Scarsdale residents reported being victimized by ID thieves Saturday, Feb. 11.

A Saxon Woods Road resident walked into the Scarsdale Police Department to report someone had obtained and cashed his 2010 tax refund check. The man said he filed in October and was due $7,153 from the federal government and $2,653 from New York. He said he contacted the state tax office Feb. 10 regarding his check and was told someone using his identity had filed a fraudulent return Feb. 24, 2011. He then found the same had happened with the federal government. 

The IRS advised the man to contact the Social Security office and the major credit card bureaus to inform them of the identity theft.

Also Saturday, a Christie Place resident told police someone had charged an item from Amazon.com on her American Express card. The victim told police that on Thursday, Feb. 9, she received a package at her former address. She said the UPS delivery person recognized her name and delivered it to the new address, but it was not merchandise she had ordered. She said she immediately told American Express to cancel her card.

Vandalism: A Rock Creek Lane resident reported Thursday that a laundry room window had been broken and a shade and furnace had been damaged. Police investigated and said the damage was caused by an unknown projectile.

Bike theft: A City Island man told police Tuesday, Feb. 7, he had left his unlocked bike in the rack on East Parkway about 2:50 p.m. while using the rest room at Starbucks. When he returned at 3:07 p.m., the bike was gone. The bike was a Time model VXRS ULTEAM, white with red trim and white tires. The bike is valued at $12,600.
